IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wesley Keith
Forbes, Sr.
September 12, 1957 – February 27, 2026
Memorial Service
Curvin K Council Funeral Home
Starts at 11:00 am (Eastern time)
Wesley K. Forbes, Sr. entered eternal rest on February 27, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Arlene E. Gifford-Forbes for more than 20 years. Born in New Haven, Connecticut on September 12, 1957, he was the son of the late Gordon T. Forbes and Judith A. Forbes. Wesley was a proud graduate of James Hillhouse High School and faithfully served in the United States Air Force from May 1978 through March 1984. He later dedicated many years of service to the United States Postal Service in Wallingford, Connecticut, where he retired as a Mail Handler.
Wesley was well known on the basketball court for his smooth skills and perfected layups. Affectionately nicknamed “Tweet,” he earned the name because he would make a soft “tweet” sound just before taking a shot—one that often swished right into the basket. While basketball was his first love, football followed closely behind. He also enjoyed boxing, tennis, and various other sports. In addition, he was a fan of game shows, especially Jeopardy and Family Feud.
A true gentleman, Wesley was admired and respected by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was family-oriented, deeply devoted to his loved ones, and especially cherished his children. Those who encountered him were left with a lasting impression, and he will be sincerely missed by all who were blessed to share in his life.
In addition to his wife, he leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Nicole Forbes-Shaw (Dwayne); his son, Wesley Forbes, Jr.; his brother, Glenn S. Forbes (Marie); his stepdaughter, Nyre’ Renee Gifford; his grandsons, Deon Forbes and Delon Forbes; his granddaughter, Dior Forbes; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
A memorial service celebrating his life and legacy will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight Street, New Haven.
