Tia L. Waters, age 56, of New Haven, Connecticut, who entered eternal rest on October 28, 2024. Born on June 22, 1968, in New Haven, Tia was the beloved daughter of Lynn M. Waters and John Waters.
A lifelong resident of New Haven, Tia was known for her vibrant personality, artistic talent, and deep commitment to her community. She was an active and beloved member of the New Haven Pride Center and the Elder Club, where she brought joy, compassion, and kindness to all who knew her. Tia's dedication to her community and her genuine empathy made her a cherished friend to many.
Tia's artistry was a profound reflection of her spirit. Her unique perspective allowed her to find beauty in the world, which she expressed through her creative work. Her art captured her love for life and her appreciation for the little things, touching the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of seeing it.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving parents, Lynn M. and John Waters; her siblings, William L. Waters, Lynn Walker, Kevin Waters, Reggie Waters, Monique Waters, and Jonisha Waters; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Tia was predeceased by her brother, Kevin Randall. Her passing leaves a profound void in the lives of her family, friends, and all those who were touched by her warmth, humor, and kindness.
Tia L. Waters will be remembered for her boundless generosity, her dedication to her community, and her unwavering love for her family. While she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit lives on in the memories of all those whose lives she touched. She will be dearly missed and forever loved.
A celebration of Tia's life will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Gotham City, located at 84 Orange Street (entrance on Church Street), New Haven. Guests will have the opportunity to view some of Tia's artwork and belongings, honor her memory with a reading of her obituary, and enjoy a potluck meal in her honor. In addition, there will be performances that celebrate the joy she brought to those around her.
