Spurgeon A. David Greene, 86, of West Haven, entered eternal rest on June 10, 2026. He was the widower of Luvenia Lyles Greene.

Born on October 8, 1939, in Wadeville, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Isaiah Greene and Gronie Pearl Greene.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Greene was employed by the Metropolitan Transit Authority and had also worked at Sea Crest Nursing Facility. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, David Greene, Corliss Servance (Elijah), and Sheila Mason (Douglas); his siblings, Susan Lambb, Patricia Watson, James Greene and Freddie Greene; his stepchildren, Diane Buchanon, Ingrid Criss, Tony Criss, and Edmond Greene; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his stepchildren, James Lyles, Linda Lyles, and Cynthia Criss; and by his siblings, Chester L. Greene, Isaiah Greene, Jr., Worthy Greene and Woodrow Greene.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight Street, New Haven. Interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
