Ruth Elliott Jackson, 88, of West Haven, was called home early Sunday morning, February 14, 2016.

Ms. Jackson was born in Ferrum, VA, November 27, 1927, a daughter of the late Harry and Willie Young.

Prior to retiring, she was employed at Soundview Health Care of West Haven and Connecticut Hospice as a Nurse.

Ruth was a longtime member of Vertical Church in West Haven.

She is survived by her son, Michael Houston (Cynthia); daughters, Ava Houston, Sandra Jackson Hines (William, Sr.) and Gloria Thompson (Gregory); five grandchildren; a great grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Ms. Jackson's life and legacy will be held Friday, February 19, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. at Vertical Church, 225 Meloy Rd., West Haven. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:30-11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery
