Robert D. Ellis, 71, of New Haven, entered into eternal rest on November 15, 2015.

Mr. Ellis was born in Staunton, VA, February 24, 1944, a son of the late Joseph Ellis and Priscilla Kincaid Ellis.

Prior to retiring, he was employed by Amtrak and Conrail Railroad as a Conductor.

Mr. Ellis was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran.

He is survived by a son, Robert T. Ellis (Eydie); a daughter, Shawna Rodriguez (Peter); brothers, Jody Ronald, Lacy and Curtis Ellis; a sister, Nancy Ellis; a granddaughter, Brittany Brooks; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by a brother, William Ellis; and sisters, Cordelia Powell and Helen Jenkins.

A celebration of Mr. Ellis' life and legacy will be held Monday, November 23, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Viewing will be held from 5:00-6:00 p.m. Burial will be in Staunton, VA.
