Johnnie Presswood, 72, of New Haven, entered eternal rest on September 20, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Estella Presswood.

Johnnie was born in Birmingham, AL on July 19, 1944, son of the late Johnnie Presswood and Ollie Allen.

He was employed at Yale-New Haven Health as a Security Officer and was also a U.S. Army veteran.

Johnnie was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Presswood is survived by sons, John (Shannon) Presswood and James Bailey; stepsons, Lindell (Bri) Wiggins and Daniel Wiggins; eleven grandchildren; a great grandchild; and other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by a sister, Jeraldine Bryant.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 1, 2016, at 10:00 AM at Hamden Plains Cemetery, 246 Circular Ave., Hamden. Viewing and visitation will be held Friday, September 30, 2016 from 6:00-7:00 PM at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven.
