Mary Elizabeth Bell, 95, of New Haven, departed this life September 17, 2014.

Born in Lewisburg, WV, March 30, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Hubert Haynes and Janie Knight Haynes.

Prior to retiring, Ms. Bell was employed at Macy's as a Sales Clerk. She was a member of Dixwell Avenue Congregational United Church of Christ.

She is survived by a son, James Bell; sisters, Ethel Rawls, Alice Horner and Edna Brown; five grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by a son, Marvin Bell, Sr. and a daughter, Joan Washington.

A celebration of Ms. Bell's life and legacy will be held Monday, September 22, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at Dixwell Avenue Congregational United Church of Christ, 217 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Viewing will be held at the church from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
