Margie C. Porter, 86, of New Haven, entered eternal rest on February 18, 2017. She was the widow of Leroy Porter. Mrs. Porter was born in Martin County, NC on October 30, 1930, a daughter of the late Mack and Lucy Andrews. She leaves to cherish loving and lasting memories, daughters, Alice Moore, Arlene, Shelby, Helen and Dorothy Carney and Brenda White; sons, Richard Carney and William Earl Carney; grandchildren, Nelson and Ernie Jackson, Willie Moore and Renee Grimes; a nephew, Milton Andrews; four great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a son, Milton Carney; daughters, Jean, Ruby, Shirley, Carrie and Priscilla Carney; and several brothers and sisters. A celebration of Mrs. Porter's life and legacy will be held Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 9:00 AM at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Viewing will be held from 8:00-9:00 AM. Burial will be in Hamden Plains Cemetery.
