Lowell Vanita Charles, 67, of West Haven, departed this life September 6, 2014. She was the wife of James Charles, Jr.

Born in Elbert, WV, November 13, 1946, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Verna L. Arnold.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Andre and Brooke Arnold; daughters, Inga and Kai Charles; a brother, John H. Arnold, Jr. (Renee); sisters, Tracy Arnold Tanner (James), Melody Arnold Jack, Amber Arnold Anderson (Herbert) and Johnnie Arnold Stanley (Harry); brother in-law, Willie "Bubba" Charles; sisters in-law, Pansy Charles, Janie Charles Holmes and Carolyn Charles Carrington; aunts, Roxie Canady of Cleveland, OH and Sybil Jackson and Jasmine Nance both of Washington, DC; an uncle, Walter Robinson of Washington, DC; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by a sister, Rita L. Charles.

A celebration of Mrs. Charles' life and legacy will be held Friday, September 12, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Viewing and visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
