José Antonio Hernandez, 71, of Derby, peacefully entered eternal rest on November 19, 2025. He was the devoted husband of Irma Mercedes Hernandez, with whom he shared many cherished years.
Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on October 2, 1954, José was the son of the late Juana Hancock. He dedicated more than 25 years of service as a factory worker in the brake industry at Tek Motive before his retirement.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, José A. Hernandez, Heriberto A. Hernandez and his wife Kristy, and Michael A. Hernandez and his wife Lasharon; his grandchildren, Heriberto I. Hernandez, Mya E. Betancourt, Michael R. Hernandez, Christian A. Hernandez, José G. Hernandez, and Vanessa L. Hernandez; and his great-grandson, Niko Angel Hernandez. He is also survived by two brothers, two sisters, and a host of extended family members and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
He was predeceased by two sisters.
