Jeremiah E. Jeter entered eternal rest on January 6, 2026. He was born on August 15, 1942, in Clifton Forge, Virginia, to the late Lloyd Arnold Jeter and Agnes Eve Jeter.
Throughout his adult working life, Mr. Jeter was employed at Meadow Landings in West Haven, where he served with dedication as a Maintenance Mechanic and Supervisor.
Jeremiah was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who deeply cherished his family. He is survived by his children: Marie Gallaher of Meriden; Tamesha Jeter (Winfred) of West Haven; James Jeter (Nakia) of Middletown; and Jeremiah Jeter (Estelle) of New Haven.
He also leaves to cherish his memory his grandchildren: Marquel, Chahara, Dyshaun, Travon, Shaheem, Mychael, Monique, Tyana, Jayron, Jeremiah Jr., Elijah, Romello, Avian, Izayiah, Kaleb, Amiya, Chayil, and Jaxson; and his great-grandchildren: Caydence, Khari, Aaliyah, and Khiyro.
Jeremiah is also survived by his loving companion and best friend, June Garrison of West Haven, his siblings: Barbara Ray of New Jersey; Sherry Leisure (William) of Ohio; Alfred Jeter (Pat) of North Carolina; and Wayne Jeter of Philadelphia.
He was predeceased by his wife, Winnie Jeter; his son-in-law, Michael Gallaher; and his granddaughter, Hope.
A celebration of Jeremiah E. Jeter's life and legacy will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight Street, New Haven. Burial will follow at Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven. Family and friends may attend a viewing at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
