Melvin Gilmore, 86, of New Haven, entered into eternal rest on August 13, 2015.

Born in New Haven, CT, January 4, 1929, he was the son of the late George and Grace Gilmore.

Mr. Gilmore was a self-employed Remodeling Contractor and a Truck Driver for numerous years.

He is survived by daughters, Ellen Hughes and Monica Kinsey; a son, Michael Gilmore; brothers, Donald and Robert "Bobby" Gilmore; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by a son, Johnny Gilmore; brothers, George, Frederick and Norman Gilmore; and a sister, Marcella White.

A celebration of Mr. Gilmore's life and legacy will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at 6:00 p.m. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Viewing and visitation will be held from 5:00-6:00 p.m. Burial will be private.
