Gilbert Lee Melton, 85, of Hamden, entered eternal rest on January 22, 2021. He was the widower of Hattie Mae Andrews Melton.

Mr. Melton was born in Parmele, NC, on September 9, 1935, a son of the late Richard and Frances Melton.

Prior to retiring, he was employed by CT Transit as a Bus Driver and was a longtime member of Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish loving memories, his son, Gregory Melton; two grandchildren, Jade and Jay Melton; sisters, Katherine Andrews and Louise Melton; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by a brother, Willie Melton; a sister, Hattie Mae Melton; and a brother who preceded him in death at an early age.

A celebration of Mr. Melton's life and legacy will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. A maximum of 25 people will be allowed to attend the service. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
