George Thomas Epps Jr., of Hamden, Connecticut, was born on August 5, 1948, to the late Pearl Epps Evans and George T. Epps Sr. He passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

George proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged following his military service and received recognition for his dedication and service to his country through the awards and decorations he earned during his time in the Army, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Marksman Badge, Expert Badge, and Good Conduct Medal.

George had an easygoing spirit and a genuine appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. He had a lifelong love of classic cars and motorcycles and enjoyed nothing more than getting out on the open road for a long ride. He also enjoyed good food, good conversation, and spending time with family and friends. His laid-back nature, sense of humor, and storytelling made him someone whose company was cherished and whose presence will be remembered by many.

George leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Patricia Troxler Epps; his son, George Thomas Epps III (Jeanette Rivera Epps); his three granddaughters, Isabella, Julianna, and Victoria Epps; his stepdaughters, Dawn White-Bracey, Caryn Troxler, and Erica Troxler-Barrett (Mark Barrett) and his step-grandchildren Dominique Bracey, Donovan Bracey, Teonni Barrett, and Emani Barrett, his sister, Georgianna Coleman, and her son, Chris Coleman, his nephew who held a special place in George’s life and was like another son to him; and his niece, Keisha Brooks.

He was predeceased by his parents, Pearl Epps Evans and George T. Epps Sr.; his sister, Gail Epps Brooks; and his niece, Renee Epps.

George also leaves behind a host of cousins, close friends, and loved ones who shared in his life, laughter, conversations, and countless memories.

His memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered, and his presence will forever remain a part of the lives of those he touched.

A memorial service to celebrate George's life and legacy will be held Friday, September 18, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight Street, New Haven, CT.
