Dorothy Lorraine Ricks, 74, of New Haven, entered into eternal rest on January 9, 2016.

She was born in Suffolk, VA, on May 11, 1941, a daughter of the late Cad and Maryalice Jones.

Ms. Ricks had been employed at the Cornell Scott Hill Health Center for 25 years and was proud of her employment. She later became employed at the former Jewish Home for the Aged as a Certified Nurse's Assistant.

Ms. Ricks was a member of Varick Memorial AME Zion Church.

She is survived by sons, Brent L. Barnes, Wayne R. Sr. (Tonya), Terrence S., Kenneth A. Sr. (Dr. Davine) and Alonzo T. Ricks; daughters, Nadine E. and Vondeen Ricks; brothers, Norris, Keith and Richard (Sharon) Jones; sisters, Caroline White (Thomas Sr.), Wilda Davis (Daryl) and Lori Branch; a sister in-law, Clarine Jones; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by a brother, Rev. Dr. Cad Jones III.

A celebration of Ms. Ricks' life and legacy will be held Thursday, January 14, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. at Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 1324 Chapel St., New Haven. Viewing will be held at the church from 9:00-11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
