Arlene "Cookie" V. Jaynes, 75, of New Haven, entered eternal rest on December 5, 2017.

Ms. Jaynes was born in New Haven, CT on August 10, 1942, daughter of the late Oscar and Grace Jaynes.

She had been employed at the V.A. Hospital in West Haven as a Cook.

Arlene leaves to cherish loving memories, a daughter, Taralynn Jaynes; sons, Douglas and Troy Jaynes; a brother, Thomas Jaynes; sisters, Loretta Covington and Virginia Britt; grandchildren, Lacara Reddick, Troy Jaynes, Jr. and Chris Walker; two great grandchildren; a goddaughter, Quinesha Bonner; and other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Denise Jaynes; and sisters, Dorothy Graham and Tina LaFrazier.

A celebration of Ms. Jaynes' life and legacy will be held Friday, December 15, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Viewing will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial will be private
