Annie D. George, age 78, of New Haven, departed this life on May 27, 2022. She was the widow of Lueark George. Mrs. George was born in Farmville, NC, on November 30,1943, a daughter of the late Nanny Vernice Shields and Willie James Joyner (Stepfather: James Shields) and prior to retiring, she was employed by the Visiting Nurses Association of Connecticut as a Home Health Aide for 40 years.
Annie leaves to cherish her loving memories, her daughters, Cynthia Joan Eubanks (Earl), Gwendolyn Marie Wilkinson (Rick), Falaria Ann Payton (Greg Brown), Willetta Lynn Payton-Roby (Alfy) and Tracy Yvette Payton; stepson, Lueark "Herc" George Jr. (Cheryl); uncle, Lynwood "Bud" Tyson; a sister, Linda Kay Jackson (George); eight grandchildren -Le'Shae Payton, Shannen Tyson, Latrese Johnson, Jerrick Wilkinson, Dimitrius Payton-Roby, Torre-Jackson, Solomon Roby, and Darius Eubanks; five great grandchildren, Jai Johnson, Torray (TJ) Tyson, Jordan Tyson, Brady & Mariah Johnson; four step grandchildren, Lamont George, Hassan George, Malachi George, and Tim George Jr.; four nieces, Lynnette Joyner, Malinda Davis, Deneta Joyner and Ebony Green; special daughters, Daphine Outlaw & Cheryl Roberson; and a host of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by stepson, Tim George (Nikki); brothers, Willie Earl Joyner and Ted O'Hara.
A celebration of Mrs. George's life and legacy will be held Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Gideon Faith Fellowship Church, 363 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. A viewing will be held at the church from 10:00-11:00 A.M. The burial will be private.
