Albert R. Byrd, 86, of New Haven, entered eternal rest on August 25, 2017.

Mr. Byrd was born in New Haven, CT on October 15, 1930, a son of the late Emanuel Byrd and Marguerite Wright Byrd.

He was an Army veteran and prior to retirement, was employed by AlliedSignal / Honeywell as a Rigger.

He leaves to cherish loving memories, his daughter, Stacie Byrd; a sister, Grace Byrd; granddaughter, Ashley Byrd; a great granddaughter, Kenya Butler; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Byrd; a brother, Walter Byrd; sisters, Sadie and Florence Byrd; a granddaughter, Monica Jackson; and a nephew, Kenny Byrd.

A celebration of Mr. Byrd's life and legacy will be held Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 9:00 AM at St. Matthew's UFWB Church, 400 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Viewing will be held at the church from 8:00-9:00 AM. Burial will be in Hamden Plains Cemetery.
