Ada M. Garvin, 86, of Hamden, entered eternal rest on January 6, 2019. She was born in Winnabow, NC on April 24, 1932, a daughter of the late Wheeler Garvin, Sr. and Dorothy Garvin.

Prior to retiring, Ms. Garvin was employed at the former Echlin Automotive as a Machine Operator. She was longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church in New Haven where she served on the Mother's Board.

She leaves to cherish loving memories, a daughter, Marilyn Garvin; sisters, Odell Bellamy, Dorothy King, Rebecca Jinwright and Maggie Gaylor (Rev. James Gaylor); a brother, Wheeler Garvin, Jr. (Delores); sister-in-law, Annie Pearl Garvin; an adopted daughter, Rev. Lynda Bembury and the Moore family; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by sisters, Catherine Mayes and Jacque Tolbert; and brothers, Willie Frank Garvin and Rev. John Henry Garvin.

A celebration of Ms. Garvin's life and legacy will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019, at 9:00 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 109 Butler St., New Haven. Viewing will be held at the church from 8:00-9:00 a.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
