Abdul Salah Shaheed, 75, of New Haven, entered eternal rest on September 11, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Saddiyyah Shaheed.

Abdul was born on April 2, 1951, in Camden, SC, a son of Ellaree Samuel and the late Andrew Samuel.

He was raised in New Haven, graduated from Wilbur Cross High School in 1971, and attended New Mexico State.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Lieutenant with the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections.

In addition to his wife and mother, he leaves to cherish loving memories, his children, Baleegh, Bajah, Bahiyud-een and his wife, Ezza Nurfathasya Binti Ruslan-Shaheed, Bahiyah, Byeisha, Basim, and Basir Shaheed and Ilona Perry and her husband, Napolean; grandchildren, Malachi Daniels, Khari Daniels, Asya Brandon, Laitch Shaheed, Jade Adori Shaheed-Hamer, Jai Amir Shaheed-Hamer; great grandchildren, Mason Daniels, Rylon Daniels and Juston Daniels; brother, Edward Charles Samuel, and his wife, Rhonda Samuel; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight Street, New Haven, followed by burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Family and friends may attend a viewing from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
