Shirley Viola Knotts Smith, 95, of West Haven, departed this life May 12, 2010. She was widow of Jerome Smith.
Born in Wadesboro, NC, November 12, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Clem and Ella Knotts.
Prior to retiring, she was employed at American Linen for 33 years.
She was a member of Christian Training and Healing Center.
Mrs. Smith leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Apostle Roberta Jordan Knotts (Bernis), Gladys Fountain and Clarissa "Jody" Council (Walter); a son, Antoine Antrum; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by a son, Burnest Antrum; a daughter, Mary Mewborn; brothers, Samuel, Julius, Claude, Harvey and Jessie Knotts; and sisters, Mary Ellerbe and Daisy Smith.
A celebration of Mrs. Smith's life and legacy will be held Monday, May 17, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 26 Edwards St., Hamden. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
