Sandra Carter Harris, 60, of New Haven, departed this life March 5, 2010. She was the wife of Charles Harris.
Born in Stamford, CT, February 2, 1950, she was the daughter of Velma Carter and the late Howard Carter, Sr.
Prior to retiring, she was employed by the City of New Haven Board of Education as a Teacher. Mrs. Harris was an award-winning teacher known for her devotion to her students at Hill-Central K-8 School during her 35 years of teaching.
In addition to her husband and mother, she leaves to cherish her memory, a sister, Rosalyn Burnett (Chris); nephews, David Walker Jr. and Matthew Walker; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by a brother, Howard Carter, Jr.
A celebration of Mrs. Harris' life will be held Thursday, March 11, 2010, at 7:00 PM at Faith Temple Revival Center, 834 Dixwell Ave., Hamden. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church from 6:00-7:00 PM. Burial will be Friday at 11:00 AM in Evergreen Cemetery.
