Nellie B. Morton
1936 - 2010

Nellie B. Morton, 74, of Hamden, departed this life June 15, 2010. She was the beloved wife of Rev. Richard D. Morton, Sr.

Born in Athens, GA, March 29, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Willie B. and Nellie Mae Glenn.

Prior to retiring, she was employed at Schick Warner-Lambert as a Machine Operator.

Mrs. Morton was a member of Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church for 50 years where she served as a member of the Diaconate Board, Flower Club, Pastor's Aide, Baptism Committee, and was a Sunday School Teacher.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Bishop Richard D. Morton, Jr. (Ayileru Alikor-Morton) and Elder Reginald Morton (Maria); brothers, David and Samuel Glenn; sisters, Henrietta Jackson, Lucille Sanders and Helen Cook; four grandchildren, Richard D. Morton III, Steven-Daniel Morton, Jasmine Morton and Jenaya Morton; and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by brothers, John C. Glenn, Sr., George Glenn and Willie Glenn.

A celebration of Mrs. Morton's life and legacy will be held Monday, June 21, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 1324 Chapel St., New Haven. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
