Esther Thomas Hargrove, age 69, of Rose Hill, NC, departed this life March 26, 2010. She was the wife of Otis Lee Hargrove.
Born in Derby, CT, April 5, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Abraham and Alice Thomas.
In addition to her husband, she leaves to cherish her memories, sons, Craig Hargrove of New Haven, Michael Anthony Hargrove (Adria) of Charleston, SC and Scott Everett Hargrove (Carmen) of Mt. Olive, NC; a daughter, Maxine Yvonne Hargrove of New Haven; goddaughter, Theresa Murphy; brothers, Rev. David Thomas Sr. (Shirlene) of Alabama and Demetrice and Lee Thomas (Jeanette) both of New Haven; sisters, Rev. Idell Williams and Elouise and Ida Bell Thomas all of Connecticut; nine grandchildren; a great grandchild; two sisters in-law; three brothers in-law; an adopted daughter, Jeannette; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Mrs. Hargrove’s life and legacy will be held Saturday, April 3, 2010, at 9:00 AM at Friendship Baptist Church, 26 Edwards St., Hamden. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church from 8:00-9:00 AM. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
