Paulette Maureen Gowens
1961 - 2009

A Time to Be Born
Paulette was born in Kingston, Jamaica on November 19, 1961 to the wonderful parents of Mrs. Claris (Lindo) Smith of Hamden, CT and Mr. Leabert Fairclough of Queens, New York. She arrived in the United States on July 21st, 1974 at the tender age of 13.

A Time to Study to Show Myself Approved
Paulette graduated from Wallace Middle School and John F. Kennedy High School in Waterbury, CT. She entered the United States Army and served proudly for over 20 years. Her tours of duty included Fort Lee, Virginia; Ft. Carson, Colorado; Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Honduras, Kuwait, Iraq and Germany. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Trinity College and University in May 2003. Paulette was a Logistic Systems Analyst for the Department of Defense, Army Missile Command in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

A Time to Fellowship with Believers
Paulette was a dedicated member of Victory Christian Fellowship in Hocheim and Wiesbaden-Norderstedt, Germany under Pastors Sanders, McMillan and Charles Johnson. Her most recent fellowship was with Full of Assurance of Faith, currently known as Christian House of Prayer-Europe in Vogelweh, Germany under Pastor Reginald Tate.

A Time for Family
Paulette is survived by her husband and companion of 23 years, Mr. Reese Lamothe Gowens, Sr., a son, Dominique A.L. Gowens; a daughter, Danielle A. Gowens; three step-sons, Reese Gowens, Jr., Christopher Campfield and wife Crystal and Troy Steiner; her parents; three brothers, George C. Fairclough and wife Sharon of Fayetteville, NC, Dr. David N. Smith and wife Queen(Edwards) of Hamden, CT and Steve Fairclough of Jamaica, WI; five sisters, Yasmine McDonald and husband Joe, Sr., of Charlotte, NC, Sharon and Yvonne Fairclough-Reid of Jamaica, WI., Barbara Fairclough-Newman of Meriden, CT and Dawn Fairclough of Waterbury CT and Jamaica, WI. and three grandchildren. She also leaves behind two uncles, Winston and Clifton Lindo of Waterbury, CT, and aunts; Kathleen Walters of Leeds, England, Eileen Clough of Kingston, Jamaica, WI, Lilieth Shaw and Lillian McCurdy of Waterbury, CT, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives.

And a Time to Die
Paulette completed her task and has made her final journey home to be with the Lord. She departed this life on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut. She was dearly loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A celebration of Paulette's life and legacy will be held Thursday, January 22, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 65 Kingsbury St., Waterbury, CT. Friends may call at the church Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Interment will be in the State Veterans' Cemetery, Middletown, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 65 Kingsbury St., Waterbury, CT 06702.
