To the family of Larry "Dr. Dance" Ferrell, be encouraged that he gave so much of his life to us, his students, friends, associates, fellow artists, that he will live on in many hearts. He taught us so much about life and living that he will never truly be gone. God bless and keep you.

TO THE FERRELL FAMILY:
WE HAVE KNOWN LARRY AND LOVED HIM AS A BROTHER SINCE WE WERE CHILDREN AND I AM SAD WITHIN MY HEART TO HEAR OF HIS PASSING. HE WAS A WONDERFUL AND LOVING PERSON . GROWING UP LARRY SPENT A LOT OF TIME WITH MY FAMILY. WE ALL WENT TO DANCE SCHOOL TOGETHER. WE WOULD ALWAYS PUT ON LITTLE SHOWS FOR MY MOTHER AND HER FRIENDS AND WE WOULD HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME. LARRY WAS A VERY TALENT PERSON AND I ALWAYS LOVED TO WATCH HIM DANCE. HE WAS WONDERFUL. MAY GOD COMFORT YOU IN THIS TIME OF SORROW.

I am so saddened to hear of Larry's "crossing over". He will be missed. I truly appreciated him instilling in me a true love of Dance. He took the "Bronze Boa Belle's" to a level we did not imagine when we joined his "adult dance exercise" class. He truly brought out the "Diva" in all of us. I know he is dancing and giving instruction in Heaven !!!
Peace,
Katurah

To the Family- I was also a student of Larry's way back in the late 60's at Bowen Peter's Sudio on Orchard St.
Even then, those of us in the adult class knew he was an extraordinary individual.
He instilled in us a love of dance that persists to this day. Please know that his spirit lives on in the hearts of all of us.

I know that God gave you as a gift, a temporary loan and now he has returned you to your rightful home. Nevertheless, my heart is saddened; I will miss my friend as will many others. Fortunately, I will always remember your smile and that fervent scream "Lucretia!"
I'm so thankful that my son Brooklyn got to meet you and learn where a great deal of my inspirational spirit and drive evolved from. Both you and Ms. Peters were so instrumental in my life and as you discovered your investments were not wasted -"Another Star" was born!
I am thankful that you were given as a gift and that I had the opportunity to be exposed. Your energy is and will always remain kinetic. The vibrancy of your spirit defies death. You will continue to move from person to person and place to place, as all who were fortunate enough to know you were immediately engulfed and mesmerized by your infinite talent. Hence, many lives will be forever effected! With prayer and deepest sympathy.

I had the pleasure of being in Larry's family of dance back in the late 70's at both the Dixwell Q House and Yale Drama Annex. Boy did we jam! I still remember all of the steps! Larry was truly a gentleman and a scholar and his works will always be in our hearts. I wish to offer Larry's family our condolences in your time of bereavement.

Larry was my brother! and the only person I've met in my travels that i can truley call my mentor. I was preveleged enough to work with Larry at Betsy Ross, Dixwell Children's Arts Center, National Council of Negro Women, Black Nativity, Yale Afro American Cutural Center and numerous dance performances through out the New Haven area. It is with love and respect that I now pay the honor of knowing my brother Larry who once said "I want to die with My Dance shoes on". We Love You Larry!

Larry became my
friend later in his life, when his dancing was a memory he often shared with
me. When I left the Church Street South building where he had his treatments,
I missed seeing him. Inevitably, whenever I returned for a visit, Larry was
always there! I will miss his smile and the way he looked at life. My condolences
to his family and to his friends. My mother always wanted to learn to tap
dance. Perhaps he is teaching her in heaven -- I hope so.
Blessings,

Larry was my first
dance teacher ever. I was in nursery school and we performed at our little
graduation. I then came to meet him again at Conte Arts Magnet School, now
Betsy Ross. He taught me Kinda Blue and many others. The road didn't stop
there. I then came across Larry again at Dee Dee's Dance Center. He always
demanded your best. He will be missed.
